Portland firm will produce seafood expo in Hong Kong

A Portland company is launching a new seafood exposition, to be held next fall in Hong Kong.

Diversified Business Communications said the new Asian Seafood Exposition will fill a gap in existing seafood trade shows by offering a variety of seafood products to buyers from Asian retail markets.

The expo will be held Sept. 7-9. It will coincide with another Diversified trade show, Restaurant and Bar Hong Kong, which draws more than 8,000 attendees.

Diversified also produces seafood expos in Europe and the U.S.

General Dynamics lands $13 million Army gun order

General Dynamics' weapons plant in Saco has been awarded a $13 million Army order for MK19 grenade machine guns.

The first arms are to be delivered in June 2010 with the order completed by late 2011.

The order is made under an initial contract that was awarded last September and brings the total contract value to $81 million.

Production will use the plant's existing work force, the company said. The plant is General Dynamics' production site for single- and multi-barrel aircraft and crew-served weapons systems.
