NEW FACES

Kevin Eames of South Portland has been hired as Piper Shores' facilities director. Eames previously spent more than 20 years at the Portland Museum of Art, most recently as the facilities director.

Steve Gray of Farmington has joined Franklin Chrysler Inc. as general manager and will oversee all aspects of the dealership's daily business. Gray brings with him over 21 years in the automobile business, and most recently eight years in the banking and insurance field.

 

PROMOTIONS

Scott A. Voisine has been named dean of students at University of Maine at Fort Kent. He will supervise and administer all aspects of the student affairs department at the college. Voisine has been on the college's staff for 15 years, serving in various positions.

Eric Maynard has been promoted by Baker Newman Noyes to the position of help desk analyst II. He joined the company in 2007.

 

GENERAL

Eric R. Allen of Bath has been selected to serve as a trustee to the Davenport Trust Fund. Allen and his wife, Pam, own Bath Printing Company. Allen also serves on the board of directors for the First Federal Savings and Loan Association and was recently recognized as Maine Street Bath's Volunteer of the Year.

R.H. Reny's Inc. was presented with the Older Worker Committee of the Maine Jobs Council's third annual Silver Collar Award at the Augusta Job Expo for its business practices demonstrating an appreciation of the quality and needs of Maine's older workers. Accepting the award were John Reny, Mary Kate Reny and the newest family member to join the company, Faustine Reny.

Arthur H. Marshall, member of Berry, Dunn, McNeil & Parker's Business Valuation Group, has been awarded the Certified Business Appraiser (CBA) credential, a high-level professional certification in the field of business valuation, granted to exceptional individuals who complete rigorous educational, experience and work product review requirements.

Cindy Bryant, RN, has been certified as an oncology nurse. Bryant is a member of the staff of the Cancer Care Center at Penobscot Bay Medical Center. She has been with Pen Bay since 1987.

Robert Lingley, an attorney at Rudman & Winchell in Bangor, was named president of the Pine Tree Legal Assistance board of directors at the organization's annual meeting Sept. 23 in Augusta. Robert has served on the Pine Tree Legal Assistance board since 2006 and has been the vice president for the past two years.

Elliot Stanley of Portland will serve as Maine Regulatory Fairness Board chairman, with Linda Snyder of Auburn as vice chairman. Also on the board, Marie Emerson of Addison, Michael Meisner of Brunswick, Van Perry of Readfield, Ed Phillips of Winthrop and Elizabeth Shissler of Portland.

Charles A. Scontras, professor, historian and research associate with the University of Maine Bureau of Labor Education, has been honored by the Maine Department of Labor with the dedication of a conference room in its Augusta office building in his name. The Cape Elizabeth resident has been referred to as "Maine's preeminent labor historian" by Labor Commissioner Laura Fortman.

John W. Porter has announced the formation of John Porter Public Strategies. This new firm will provide a full range of media and public relations services and draw on his 27-year career in journalism, divided evenly between work as a business journalist and opinion writer and editor. He served as the editorial page editor of the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram for the past decade.

Paul Dargis and Gary Hammond are pleased to announce the merger of their accounting firms, Dargis & Associates, P.A. and Hammond Accounting Solutions, LLC, effective Oct. 1, to be known as Hammond & Dargis, Certified Public Accountants, providing individualized value added accounting, tax and consulting services to individuals, estates, businesses and their owners. The firm is located at 460 Elm St., Biddeford.

Kristin Klein of Pownal has been appointed as the Frannie Peabody Center's director of development. She brings with her 15 years of experience, specializing in individual donor outreach, corporate relations and event management with emphasis on strategic planning and facilitation.
