I am a carpenter with over 13 years experience. In this economy it was very hard to find work. Thankfully with the help of internet sites such as craigslist and uncle henry's, I was able to put out my name enough to get work. But it was very hard, about as much work on the internet as it was on the job.
I assume it is just as difficult for potential clients to sift through the adds as well looking for the right person for their projects. They are going in blind, not knowing this person, what their work is like, or ever if they have references. Stressful on both ends!
I have set up a social network site for everyone in the construction trade. Anything you can imagine, arborists, framers, roofers, finish work, hardwood floorer's, caretakers, etc. There are question's they must answer before they are accepted onto the site to showcase their work, resume, and references.
Such questions as, what is the work that you do? Where are you located? Do you have your own transportation/license? Are you insured? Criminal Background, if so explain? How many years experience? These are all required questions.
Then each individual is able to add their resumes, letter's of reference, pictures, videos, and even a booking calendar for availability! This is a go to site for workers in the trade, they can use their personal page as their website for business cards and clients they speak with.
People looking for workers can go to this site, and find exactly what they are looking for with all the information that they need ahead of time. It saves time and frustration on everyones side to stop the hours of searching and phone calls that we all have to endure. I am working on setting up a tab for customers to post the jobs they are looking to have done as well.
This is a free site for all to use and access. I love carpentry work, and I love to be able to help people. Especially since I do know how hard it is for clients to find good work, and for the rest of us to find good jobs. This is a great site to for companies to find crew for bigger jobs, the possibilities go on. I bring the very best of my ability and knowledge to every job that I work on. Sometimes I need crew, and I will find only the best, this site does help me.
Craigslist and Uncle Henry's are my competitors, but only in these categories. Also such companies that charge people to be apart of their system. It is not fair to have to pay to find a job, or for someone who needs work done to have to pay to find competent, reliable, professional help! This is a one stop shop...................
My grandfather has taught me everything I know. He taught me the way to do things correctly and thoroughly. I believe if my name is attached to a job then it needs to be the best possible. My family has inspired me to do this, it is such a good feeling to drive past something I have worked on. I am proud to run into those customers again!
Thank you for taking the time to read this, good luck to all of you out there!

Networking resources are very important to secure business and brand your name. Having another resource in this web world ultimately helps the business owner and consumer alike especially when pre-qualification is a requirement. Continue the good work.

I've heard really good things about the quality of work that Andy has done and his overall reliability. Reliability is the hardest thing to find when looking for good contractors. I think that people are very scared by the horror stories of contractors taking their money and not showing up to finish the job. My neighbors recently paid a contractor 70k to build them a garage and they haven't been able to get in touch with him since April. I think what Andy is trying to do with this site is great. Not only is it an opportunity for good, reliable tradesmen to advertise but it's an opportunity for potential customers to "test drive" through referrals/recommendations, etc. I hope to be able to call on Andy and this site to build us a deck with our first-time-homebuyers-credit very soon. Good luck with the site!

We are from Michigan and met Andy in Gorham Maine. We started talking to him and he said that he was a carpenter by trade. We were interest in buying a house in that area and went with him to see some of the work that he has done. He is a excellent carpenter and craftsman, he does beautiful work, and detailed work. He is reliable, hard working, and a great personality.

It is true when they say that good work is hard to find, and a resource like this will be great for the industry, not just for the producers, but for the consumers as well. In a trade where quality can very so much from worker to worker, company to company, this site will be a great tool for making sure that everyone gets the work they need done by the right people for the job. I've known Andy for many years, and he is a great, trustworthy guy with a lot of character. His work ethic and dedication to quality definitely show in the finished product for all his jobs. Hopefully the social site can help guys like Andy get the jobs they deserve and the team they need to succeed.

At this very moment, my father and step mother are living in a house that Andrews grandfather built. The quality, attention to detail and superb workmanship are apparent even to those who don't necessarily have an eye for construction. Andrew has certainly had a fine teacher, pair this with his integrity and superior work ethic and you have yourself one of the best in the industry, period.

Andy has been a friend of mine since elementary school and has been doing carpentry for almost as long. I've seen pictures of his work online; it looks very impressive. I've heard only great things from those who have hired him.
I think Andy has a great idea for a website here. There is a need for a resource like this--something like Angie's List, but better and broader in scope. In particular, this site sounds useful not only to potential customers looking for feedback on tradespeople but also to employers seeking employees and vice versa. Also, it seems to offer more than customer feedback; it gives tradespeople the opportunity to post pictures, resumes, etc. As Andy says, "it's a one stop shop."
Keep up the good work, Brew--both online and on-the-job. Good luck with the new project!

Hardworking. Trustworthy. Efficient. Just a few small words that still fail to justify the fantastic quality of not only Andrew J. Brewer's work, but also his genuine character. This guy is a top notch carpenter.

Being a homeowner myself, I have hired some workers, that actually scared me! It is really hard to find someone right for you and your project with just speaking over the phone, or even meeting them in person real quick! This is such a terrific idea, how relieving to be able to browse through resumes, pictures, letters of reference! I am looking forward to being able to use this and pass on to my friends, good luck!

Andy is my brother of 17 years, and I have nothing but good things to say about him. He has worked hard all of his life, whether it was working for my father, Danny Gagnon, his Grandfather, or lobstering for a full day. He has had the best teachers anyone could ask for for the type of work he is doing. He loves was he does, loves seeing satisfaction on peoples faces, and overall simply loves working hard. His progress in life is very inspiring, and I strive to be able to develop the work ethic he has acquired during his life on the work force. Andy will be honest to his customers, and will do the work right! If you're looking for efficient, quality and tremendous work, Andy is the right man for the job!
