Released 11/24/09(Portland, ME) –Greater Portland Transit District (METRO) is collecting new, unwrapped toys and books for children in need. The METRO “Stuff a Bus” will be parked in front of the METRO Pulse, the Downtown Transportation Center, at Elm Street in Portland (off Congress Street, near the Portland Public Library) from 11:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. on Friday, December 4, 2009.
The first 100 people to bring a gift to the METRO Pulse on Elm Street on December 4 will receive a free bottle of Capt’n Eli’s Root Beer.
METRO “Stuff a Bus” is part of Portland’s Downtown District’s month-long holiday celebration. For a full schedule of events, visit www.portlandmaine.com or stop by participating stores and businesses. METRO provides convenient service for downtown holiday events.
METRO, with bus ridership averaging 1.5 million annually, is Maine’s largest public transportation carrier, providing bus service to Portland, Westbrook, Falmouth and the Maine Mall area of South Portland.
