Released 11/16/09The nonprofit American Lighthouse Foundation (ALF) is proud to announce that graphic artist Alan Claude and lighthouse expert and author Jeremy D’Entremont will be on hand to sign their renowned prints and books respectively at ALF’s gift store & interpretive center, located at 464 Main St., Rockland, on Friday, November 27, 2009.
The appearance of Claude & D’Entremont is designed to help raise awareness for the American Lighthouse Foundation’s preservation and education mission; which includes 22 lighthouses throughout New England – 11 being Maine lights such as Owls Head, Rockland Breakwater and Pemaquid Point.
Award-winning graphic artist Alan Claude will sign prints from his Maine Lighthouse Collection Series from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Mr. Claude’s work features a dramatic and bold interpretation of Maine lighthouses and their surrounding environments. With colorful contrasting imagery, dimensional light and shadow, these classic travel poster illustrations bring forward the strength and spirit of each Maine lighthouse.
Popular lighthouse author Jeremy D’Entremont will be available to sign his collection of books from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Mr. D'Entremont has been called the leading expert on New England's historic lighthouses. He is the author of seven books, including The Lighthouses of Maine, The Lighthouses of Massachusetts, The Lighthouses of Rhode Island, The Lighthouses of Connecticut, and The Lighthouse Handbook: New England. He has appeared on the History Channel, the Travel Channel, Public Television, and National Public Radio speaking about his favorite subject.
The American Lighthouse Foundation’s gift store & interpretive center, located at 464 Main St., Rockland, will be open extended hours on November 27th from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, and is open daily Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
