Released 7/22/09Skowhegan, ME – Gifford’s Ice Cream (www.giffordsicecream.com), the multi-generation, family-owned and -operated ice cream enterprise based in central Maine, took top honors at the 2009 New Jersey Ice Cream Festival. For the second year in a row, Gifford’s Old Fashioned Vanilla flavor won First Prize at the seventh annual event that judges local, regional and national brands for best flavor, texture and popularity.
Gifford’s Ice Cream is committed to making all of its flavors using fresh, pasteurized, growth-hormone-free milk from local Maine dairy farms. According to Lindsay Gifford, vice president of sales, keeping
the ice cream local is part of its appeal.
“All of us at Gifford’s Ice Cream are honored to be recognized by ice cream fans,” said Gifford. “We are committed to making the best ice cream we can every day and really take to heart the feedback we received at this year’s festival.”
The very popular ice cream, now available throughout northern New England at Hannaford locations, Shaw’s Supermarkets, and Roche Bros. locations, is also offered in a growing number of family-owned supermarkets in the greater Boston and southern New England areas. Further, several hundred ice cream stands throughout New England, New York and New Jersey are serving the premium ice cream to enthusiastic customer feedback. Gifford’s Ice Cream is also served at a growing number of account locations, including Columbia University, The Meadowbrook U.S. Cellular Pavilion, Rutgers University, Jenkinson’s, Casino Pier, Schnippers and Del Fresco.
