Released 10/27/09Maine College of Art will hold their 35th Annual Art Auction on Saturday, November 7, 2009. The work of more than 120 selected artists will be available for purchase through bidding at the silent and live auction at the Institute of Contemporary Art at MECA. Proceeds from the event benefit the students and the mission of the College. Lead sponsors are Norton Insurance and Financial Services and Spectrum Medical Group.
Auction participants include established artists Will Barnet, Katherine Bradford, Alison Goodwin, Stephen Pace, Todd Webb and William Wegman as well as emerging alumni artists Nicole Duennebier ‘05, Shannon Rankin ’97 and Justin Richel ’02. In addition to artwork, guests can bid on a dinner at 555, an in-home wine tasting and lodging in Tuscany. To view the online catalog, see http://auction.meca.edu
New this year, buyers can choose a Buy It Now option at the event, set at 150% above the value.
There is no cost to attend the previews, November 3 – 6 from 10am to 4pm and during the First Friday Art Walk on November 6 from 5pm to 8pm.
Tickets to the event on November 7 are $40 and $70. The $70 benefactor ticket allows for early entry at 5pm, a champagne reception, reserved seating for the live auction and a priority check-out lane. The $40 ticket allows for entry at 6pm. Both tickets include food and drink provided by local restaurants. Guests can save $10 per ticket by purchasing by November 6. Tickets can be purchased online at http://auction.meca.edu or by calling 207.699.5012.
