The Maine Association of Retirees (MAR) members, at their Regional Meeting held on April 30, 2009 in Augusta, ME, voted to re-elect Nancy Seigars of Windsor, ME to serve as one of three Regional Directors and newly elect F. Gerard Nault of Windsor to serve as one of three Alternate Directors for Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Sagadahoc, Somerset & Waldo Counties. The results of the election become effective July 1, 2009, and Nancy Seigars’s and Gerry Nault’s terms as Regional Director & Alternate run through June 30, 2012.

Regional Directors and Alternates are volunteers, and they also serve as members of the Board of Directors for MAR. Florence Hoover-Johnson, MAR’s Executive Director says, “They are crucial in decision-making affecting the future of the organization, as significant changes for the organization are presented to the Board of Directors for approval before being presented to the membership at the organization’s annual meeting for official approval.”

The Maine Association of Retirees exists to protect and expand the rights and benefits of Maine’s retired teachers, state/county/municipal government employees, and to support a fiscally sound retirement system.
