Released 4/16/0940th Anniversary Concert in Livermore Featuring Original Artists Who Performed at the 1969 Woodstock Music and Arts Festival
(Livermore, Maine) - In what projects to be one of the largest attended Maine outdoor concert events in recent years, MaineTix.net announces that the Heroes of Woodstock 2009 Tour, featuring Jefferson Starship, Canned Heat, Ten Years After, Big Brother and The Holding Company, Grateful Dead's Tom Constanten, and special host Country Joe McDonald, will appear Sunday August 9th at The Barnyard, off Route 108, in Livermore. The bands will be performing many of the songs played at the original 1969 Woodstock. Tickets and other event information are now available at www.MaineTix.net.
The over 400 acre facility, 75 minutes north of Portland, will host thousands, to celebrate this sanctioned Heroes of Woodstock event, which will be touring in Europe and on the West Coast prior to coming to Maine ths summer in an exclusive Northern New England stop. Ticket options range from general admission, to up front reserved seating, or a special VIP pass that includes a private after-party with all the bands, and a musical tribute to Jerry Garcia, who died on August 9th, 14 years ago.
The Livermore show is also being promoted regionally as 'Jammin for the Homeless', with a portion of all proceeds to benefit Hope Haven Homeless Shelter, the largest service provider of its kind in Androscoggin County. Maine-based promoter Mike Shea feels the Hope Haven connection is a nice fit to today's world, and in keeping with what the original Woodstock was all about. "Heroes of Woodstock comes to Maine 40 years later in a great, natural setting. Peace, love, compassion, hope, and memorable rock music never goes out of style. A matter of fact, considering our current economy, I think people are looking for feel-good events like this more than ever," Shea explains.
