Google Wave and Skype are vastly different thing. Not to nerd out but there is absolutely nothing out there that comes close to Wave. Wave is a document collaboration system (email on heroine) where Skype is purely a video chat protocol.
Wave has a small amount of users right now which means that there is very little knowledge flying around about it. When people finally get invites and it opens up it will absolutely dominate the email market right now. All of this hinges on people's ability to relinquish their hold on their ancient yahoo, hotmail, or aol email accounts.
